• Three Cities Ran with One Goal.

    June 1, 2014

Eugene, San Francisco, and Brussels ran for the Red Tab Foundation.  Only a few more donations needed to help them reach their goal.

    SF Group

In April and May, employees in San Francisco, Eugene, and Brussels laced up their shoes to Run for Red Tab.  Altogether, 214 employees raced in support of the Red Tab Foundation, raising over $23,Amy D, Tom P, Irene M000 for Levi Strauss & Co. employees and retirees across the globe.

Eugene, outfitted in their white RFRT shirts, bright colored shades, and bandanas, were ready to get colorful at the Color Me Rad 5K.  The weather was typical – cold and cloudy – but the enthusiasm was high.  Bringing close to 30 employees out for the run, Eugene raced along the McKenzie River, raising close to $1,000 for RTF!

In San Francisco, with the Golden Gate Bridge as their back drop and 140 employees and friends by their side, the Run for Red Tab at the Levi’s Presidio 10 was on.  The Vacaville Outlet store brought down a team of nine runners for a morning full of activities.  The sun came out just as all 4,000 race participants crossed the finish line; perfect timing for music, drinks, and breakfast.  With your help, San Francisco raised over $19,000 – help them meet their goal by clicking here.

Brussels, who founded the Run for Red Tab in 2008, ran the longest distance –  a 20K!  44 employees ran in support of the Red Tab Foundation, raising $2,800 for RTF. Brussels

The fundraisers worked hard for the money, and the support came in from donors all across the globe.  Every dollar raised goes directly to our peers worldwide who are experiencing an unexpected financial emergency.

Notable “high-earning” fundraisers paired with competition amongst departments kept the energy high and the spirit plentiful for RTF.  In San Francisco, the “Denim Divas” team brought in $3.2k, “Marketing Mavens of Levi’s” raised $2.4k, and the “Pod Squad” came in a close third with $2k.  Our top fundraisers included Abigail Johnson and Tanya Wirht, who, with their enthusiastic pleas, brought in over $2500 between the two of them.

Thank you to the runners, fundraisers, sponsors, and all those who donated to the Run for Red Tab in Eugene, San Francisco, and Brussels this year.  Your support of RTF is appreciated.

This is how we help each other.

  • Giving Back Just Got Easier.

    May 19, 2014

Employees in the United States can now give back just by saying “YES!” at the point of sale.

We are excited to announce that thanks to a collaborative effort between retail operations, retail communications, IT and marketing, employees in the United States can now donate to the Red Tab Foundation (RTF) at the cash register.

When you make a purchase at one of our 175 U.S. retail stores (including outlet), you will have the option to donate to RTF and help your co-workers around the world. $1, $5, $10 — it’s a small portion of your employee discount, and no matter the number after the dollar sign, every penny helps. All funds will go directly to employees and retirees facing unexpected financial emergencies.

Hear why Meisje, senior manager at our Market Street store in San Francisco, is so passionate about this new addition to her daily routine.

On Community Day alone, 117 donations were made through this new option at just three retail stores in the U.S. Think what a difference it would make if every time you purchased a pair of 501® jeans, you simultaneously gave back to your peers around the world.

Thank you to everyone involved in making this a success, with a special shoutout to our retail store teams for their continued efforts in collecting donations.

  • Two Cities, One Goal.

LS&Co. employees in San Francisco and Eugene are running for Red Tab.  Help them achieve their fundraising goals in a weekend dedicated to running for RTF.

California and Oregon are warming up just in time for Aprils Run for Red Tabs.  Eugene is hosting their first Run for Red Tab on April 12th, and then 500 miles away on the next day, San Francisco is holding their Run for Red Tab at the Levi’s Presidio 10.

Both cities have the same mission in mind – raise funds for the Red Tab Foundation – our unique foundation at LS&Co. that helps employees and retirees in times of financial emergencies.

Want to help? Here is how our community across the globe can support these two locations in reaching their goals:

Run for Red Tab San Francisco:

    Date – Sunday April 13, 2014

    Race – Levi’s Presidio 10

Goal – $30,000 (we are 1/3 of the way there!)

  • It’s Time to Run for Red Tab!

    March 6, 2014

Run, fundraise, donate or volunteer to show your support for the Red Tab Foundation.

Calling all fitness and Red Tab Foundation enthusiasts. On April 13, the Run for Red Tab San Francisco at the Levi’s® Presidio 10 race will kick off a series of global fundraising runs benefiting the Red Tab Foundation.

These runs bring in tens of thousands of dollars annually for RTF — not just from San Francisco but also from Brussels and South Africa, with new locales on the horizon for 2014. Last year we raised $22,000 in San Francisco, and with the help of colleagues like John, we plan to bring in $30,000 in 2014. All of the money raised goes directly to employees and retirees facing financial emergencies.

For those of you in San Francisco, gather your co-workers, friends and family and register today for a 5K, 10K or 10 mile run through the Presidio and across the Golden Gate Bridge. This year’s run has a whole new twist — a different venue, a sponsorship from the Levi’s® brand and some much-deserved party time with your co-workers after the race, featuring live music, bloody marys and breakfast burritos.

If you’re not in the Plaza, you can still help out by fundraising or donating. Or you could even hold a Run for Red Tab in your city! (Email us to find out how.)

Plus, we’re rewarding the top fundraisers with a plethora of prizes. Tickets to see the 49ers in their new stadium? Could be you! An iPhone 5 to capture your favorite moments on the run, or a Fitbit to keep track of your training? Be a rock star fundraiser, and you could receive one of these great prizes in return.

Ready to help raise $30,000? Click here for detailed info on how to get involved with one of the below:

    • Employees: Your registration for any distance is FREE thanks to the Levi Strauss Foundation. That’s right, FREE. We hope that you help us fundraise or make a donation to the Red Tab Foundation in return.
    • Family/Friends: The first 25 employees to register get one free entry for a family member or friend so they can join in on the fun.
    • Train with us! We’ll be holding weekly runs on Wednesdays from the Plaza to help you dust off your sneakers.

    • After you sign up to run, help raise funds for RTF via personalized fundraising pages.
    • Don’t like to run? You can help us fundraise without stepping foot on the course and can still join in on the race day activities.
    • Create a team with your department. A little interdepartmental competition never hurt anyone.

    • Support the efforts of your co-workers without tying a shoelace or sending an email. Sponsor a participant directly or make a general donation to the Run for Red Tab SF.

    • Help sign in people, hand out water or just rally the troops. The race team at the Presidio 10 could use your help.

  • Get Smart — Apply for Educational Assistance for Your Dependents Today!

    March 3, 2014

The Red Tab Foundation is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2014–15 school year

“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” — Nelson Mandela

We couldn’t agree more with this quote that South African student Angelique recently shared in a note to us. Angelique is the recipient of a scholarship through Red Tab Scholars, a need-based program that awards up to $1,500 USD per year to the dependents of LS&Co. employees around the world.

“In a country where opportunities such as the one you have given me are few, it is a privilege to receive a scholarship,” Angelique wrote. “Funding my tertiary education is more than simply signing a check. It is placing me on a path to success and a better future.”

Angelique’s is just one of the many lives we have been able to touch through the Red Tab Scholars program. Since 2008, the program has awarded almost US $1.6 million in scholarships to more than 430 students in 17 countries — all thanks to generous contributions to the Red Tab Foundation from Bob and Colleen Haas and LS&Co. employees, retirees and shareholders.

Today we’re kicking off the application period for scholarships for the 2014–15 school year.

The scholarships, which are administered by Scholarship Management Services, are based on financial need (75 percent) and scholastic merit (25 percent). They can be used for post-secondary education at colleges, universities and vocational schools.

For an application form, visit Applications must be postmarked by April 26, 2014.

Want to contribute to the success of these scholars? See why our colleague, Traci, is passionate about the program.

Thank you for making education possible for those in need.

  • Is Your Resolution to Volunteer More? We Can Help.

    January 29, 2014

Red Tab Foundation is looking for people around the globe to lend a helping hand throughout the year.

The Red Tab Foundation (RTF) is an independent nonprofit that helps employees and retirees in times of financial emergencies. But we can’t do it without your generosity and support. At our Poland plant, 700 of the 900 employees give via a modest payroll deduction — an example that Dockers President Lisa Collier hopes we can follow around the globe.

    Lisa Video

But while participation via donations and payroll deductions is vital, another key part of that support is employee volunteerism. We have various volunteer and ambassador opportunities throughout the world, and we’re looking for employees like you to be key players in the success of the foundation.

    • Become an ambassador in your city, for your department or at your retail store. Help us spread the word and raise funds for RTF.
    • Organize a Run for Red Tab event in your city.
    • Donate your expertise. Are you a reporting guru? Social media professional? IT whiz? We need your skills!
    • Raise funds for any event. Have a passion that you would like to share with others while supporting RTF? Bike rides, golf tournaments, walkathons — the options are endless, and the opportunity is yours. Have an idea? We want to hear it!
    • Lend a hand on ad hoc projects (S.F. only). We could always use help with mailings to grant recipients and donors, baking for campaigns and other easy and interactive opportunities.

To get involved with any of the above projects, or to join our mailing list and stay up to date on future opportunities, email us. As always, thank you for your support of the Red Tab Foundation. This is how we help each other.

  • Back to School with Red Tab Scholars

    August 27, 2013

Mark Jeferson A Millet_Philippines_Photo3_080513The Red Tab Foundation awarded a total of 139 scholarships to dependents of LS&Co. employees around the world for the 2013-2014 school year.

It’s the end of summer, and we’re sending our scholars back to school! This year, the Red Tab Scholars program extended their awards to a new part of the globe where LS&Co. employees and their families reside – Vietnam. Scholarships were granted to the children of several factory workers at our Ninh Binh facility.

Globally, the Red Tab Scholars awarded 25 new scholarships and renewed a robust 114, to students working towards two and four-year degrees at colleges, universities and vocational schools.

Mark, a recent graduate from the Philippines (pictured above with his classmates), expressed his gratitude towards the foundation in helping him complete his degree:

“I personally didn’t think that I could continue college because of financial problems; your foundation gives me hope and strength to persevere in obtaining a college degree.”

Since 2008, over 430 students from 17 different countries have been awarded 1.4 M USD in scholarships with the help of generous donations from LS&Co. employees, retirees, and shareholders. At the Red Tab Foundation we believe in educational advancement for dependents of LS&Co. employees throughout the world. It is through these scholarships that many families’ dreams are realized.

Ceslyn, a Red Tab Scholar recently wrote to the foundation: “I have graduated from my course in Civil Engineering. I really want to thank you; your financial help is a great relief for our family, and I am now one step closer to my dreams and goals.”

The application period is closed for the 2013-2014 school year, but will open up again next spring.

Want to contribute to the success of these scholars? Make a donation here. Thank you for making education an opportunity for those in need.

  • San Francisco Laced Up Their Shoes, But Needs An Extra Kick To The Finish Line.

    May 9, 2013

San Francisco Raised $21K for the Red Tab Foundation – Help Them Raise $14K More!

On an unusually warm and extraordinarily beautiful day in San Francisco, over 100 LS&Co. employees, family, and friends competed in the Run for Red Tab in Golden Gate Park.

In the weeks leading up to the race on April 21st, many teams were formed and departments could feel the competition rising in San Francisco. Spirit was felt all around the plaza; the Dockers team held a bake sale, and team captains were great cheerleaders in encouraging their departments to sign up. The Wholesale Marketing & Strategy team brought in $4.1K, Ecommerce raised $3.4K, and the Jean Team came in a close third with $3K. Melissa DiRienzo, Kristin Venema, and Tomas Schmidt were the top three individual fundraisers, raising over $4,000 between them. Jen Sey was the executive sponsor, and with her family in tow, helped get the runners excited right before the race started.

Thank you to the runners, fundraisers, and to all those who donated to this year’s Run for Red Tab San Francisco. San Francisco did a great job fundraising – $21,333 has been raised to date, with donations still rolling in. Help them get to their goal of $35,000 by donating here. All the funds raised go directly to the Red Tab Foundation, LS&Co.’s unique nonprofit that helps employees and retirees overcome unexpected financial emergencies.
