Friend of the Red Tab Foundation,

We are delighted to share our annual impact report, which showcases the amazing work that we have accomplished over the past year. Thanks to your generous support, the Red Tab Foundation (RTF) has been able to provide hope in nearly 2,000 emergencies that LS&Co. employees and retirees faced in our fiscal year 2024. As a result, our role as a critical safety net has gained scale and visibility greater than ever before.

This has been a year of transition for LS&Co. as the company seeks to accelerate its direct-to-consumer (DTC) business and become “DTC First”.  Through this change, RTF has been one of the most tangible ways we support our employees; we provide them a lifeline of support when personal crises occur, a tangible and immediate resource, and act as a source of their hope in action. More than 96% of RTF’s employee grants go to retail, distribution, and plant workers. We understand their challenges and aspirations, and tailor our services to help them overcome obstacles in order to have fulfilling careers. Grantees report feeling more connected to LS&Co. and saw a reduction in the financial stress that unexpected hardships create.

  • We are also incredibly grateful for the strong fundraising support this past year that has enabled us to meet yet another year of elevated need. Despite a challenging environment, you showed your commitment and compassion to our mission. At a time when many organizations are struggling, you donated, volunteered, participated in events, and spread the word about RTF more than ever before. You are the heart and soul of RTF, and this spirit of “employees helping employees” is what makes LS&Co. such a truly special place.

Thank you for being part of our community, and for helping us put hope in action.

    Kind Regards,

    Jenny, John & Pete

Our Mission

Our Grantees: A Mother’s Resolve & Siti’s Fight for Stability

Siti Fadillah is a hardworking single mother of three who works in Singapore as a retail stylist. One of her daughters was diagnosed with epilepsy a few years ago, and Siti had been juggling household bills with medical treatments and prescriptions. When she really started to fall behind on household costs last winter, she realized that there was one more avenue to turn to for help. RTF was able to support Siti and offered her hope in the form of financial support for critical utility bills that kept the lights on and gave her some financial room to breathe. Even with the best financial planning, hardships like Siti’s can just be a few unlucky strikes away. The majority of RTF’s 1,730 grantees are women, many of whom are responsible for supporting entire families.

Our Grantees: Transformational Care of Emily’s Family

Emily Houghton is a retail rockstar in the UK – climbing the ranks from stylist to store manager in just two years. "I just love getting to help people every day. I have an incredible team and feel lucky to work for a brand like Levi’s®," Emily shared. However, when a family member she lived with encountered severe health issues, RTF provided a beacon of hope during a dark time in her life. In this video, hear about Emily's experience.

From Our Grantees

Juan Carlos’ Thanks: “They helped me give my mom a few more years of life”

  • Juan Carlos, an assistant store manager in San Francisco, is among RTF’s most passionate advocates; he’s a constant cheerleader for RTF programs, from hardship support to Red Tab Savers. Juan Carlos is from El Salvador, where several members of his family still reside. “We weren’t expecting it, but my mom in El Salvador fell very, very sick. I have my daughter and son here [in California] with me, and I was supporting everyone – my whole household and my parents too, and I just fell behind. We were almost kicked out of our home.” His coworker heard about what was happening and told him to apply for help from RTF, where a program manager quickly validated the situation and approved his request for support just a few short days later. “It was honestly the most amazing experience. I’m so grateful for Levi’s and the Red Tab Foundation. They helped me give my mom a few more years of life.” Medical emergencies make up one of RTF’s largest grant categories, representing 13% of last year’s hardships.

Pat’s Fight Against Parkinson’s

  • Pat's story is a heartwarming reminder of the strength and support within the LS&Co. family. After dedicating 23 years to a Levi's® facility in Erwin, TN, at this stage of her life Pat faces the challenges of Parkinson's disease and limited hearing. When the cost of her medication soared, it was RTF that stepped in, providing a lifeline with a three month supply of medication. This act of kindness allowed Pat to manage her other critical bills, bringing peace of mind. She expressed profound gratitude to RTF, whose generosity not only offered financial relief but also a sense of security. Pat’s case was one of more than 600 from manufacturing retirees last year that RTF continues to support.

Granting Hope: Red Tab Foundation Soars in Thailand

  • When LS&Co. bought back its business in Thailand in 2022, it introduced 140 new stores into the LS&Co. fold. Where LS&Co. goes, so too does RTF, as we’ve responded to huge growth in Thailand and assistance up +589% in the East Asia PAC region last year.

One of those grantees is Hussawee, who learned that his home needed critical safety repairs. He knew that it would strain his finances, but it was the best choice for the health of his family. Part of the problem was that they needed to move into new housing temporarily, and he wasn’t sure how he could afford it. When he heard from LS&Co.'s local Human Resources about RTF, he couldn’t believe that such an organization existed; that is, until his grant was approved and paid. “I’m proud to be part of LS&Co., a company that genuinely cares for its people. It’s reassuring to know they stand by us during tough times, providing the support we need,” Hussawee shared. Housing is a critical area of need for our community and  we know when employees have a stable home, they thrive. Housing and eviction related grants are 15% of the support that we offer each year.

96% of employee grantees were retail, distribution or manufacturing employees.

Saving Smart: A Journey to Financial Freedom

Elizabeth Lopez’s savings journey has been transformative, and the Red Tab Foundation’s Savers program has played a key role. Savers is a matched savings challenge that RTF offers to U.S. and Canadian retail and distribution employees to encourage them to build a habit of saving.

  • Elizabeth appreciates Red Tab Savers reminders and gamified prize opportunities for those who continue to save after the initial matched savings challenge ends. Elizabeth’s goals include trips and emergency savings, and she's excited to have recently fully paid off her student loans. A pivotal moment was when she used her savings to pay for new car tires, underscoring the importance of having a personal safety net when unexpected costs hit. Motivated by travel, Elizabeth balances hard work with rewarding experiences, like trips to national parks. In 2024, Elizabeth won the Red Tab Save to Win $1,000 Grand Prize, a sweepstakes for those that continue to save after the challenge ends. She plans to invest the money or hang onto it for an emergency. Her advice to other employees: “Sign up for Red Tab Savers immediately, as it teaches discipline and reduces stress.”

Emil Knopf: Inspiring Community Care at LS&Co

  • From tragedy to triumph, Emil Knopf’s journey with LS&Co. is a testament to the power of hope in action. A Holocaust survivor turned design department leader, Emil’s 45-year career at LS& Co. began as an errand runner and culminated as Chief Designer and Youth wear Design Department Manager. He was a founding member of the Community Involvement Team and staunch supporter of RTF; his focus was always on giving back to the community. Even in retirement, he generously supported our work with over 85 donations aiding colleagues during tough times. In a 2016 interview, he shared about his time working with RTF: “The work of Red Tab Foundation is just as important for the people giving as it is for the people receiving. Often you get such a strong sense of satisfaction from your involvement, typically much more than what you put in.” His enduring generosity, until his passing in July 2024, inspire us to nurture a community of care, reflecting his indelible legacy of empathy and support.

Angie’s 100km Hike: A Supporter’s Extreme Challenge for Red Tab Foundation

  • Angie Tavares did not call herself a “hiker” before 2024 - the very year that she challenged herself to spend four days long-distance hiking in the true wilderness of the Magaliesburg Mountains in South Africa. Angie, a South Africa headquarters employee and long-term RTF supporter, set her sights on a big goal for this year when she signed up for the Sunset to Sunrise Woman’s Walk: to make it through hiking 100kms (62 miles) and to raise at least 10,000 ZAR (around $560 USD) for Red Tab Foundation. Angie reported that the challenge was one of the hardest things she ever did, but that she did it with pride and a smile for her colleagues that have received help from RTF in the manufacturing facility in South Africa.
